Met Gala 2023 Looks

The biggest night of Fashion is back in the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. A new month brought new looks and a new Met Gala to add to the books. The theme this year was Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty. The famous fashion designer Karl Lagerfeld passed away in 2019, so organizers of the Met Gala decided to host the theme in his honor and to pay tribute to his work in the Fashion Industry.
Lagerfeld was always known for his elegance, the beauty in simplicity, and the extravagance. The signature look he always wore was a black and white suit and tie, black sunglasses, and a low ponytail, holding his fluffy pampered cat, Choupette.
When you think Karl Lagerfeld, think chic, elegant, classy diamonds and pearls. Let's see which celebrities made it to the list and who stayed in theme for the 2023 Met Gala. It is now time to talk couture!
Kim Kardashian
Kim Kardashian showed up dripping in pearls, wearing a gown by Schiaparelli. Her team and Kim envisioned this look as a tribute to the luxury brand Channel and designer Karl with the iconic white pearls. Over 5,000 pearls were used to make this dress.
Sydney Sweeney
The new It girl, Sydney Sweeney, attended her second Met Gala wearing a gown by Miu Miu. Her look resembled the beauty in femininity and was an ode to old Hollywood.
Dua Lipa
Singer and performer Dua Lipa was one of the first celebrities to arrive at the Met Gala this year. Lipa wore a Chanel gown previously worn by model Claudia Schiffer for the fall 1992 couture collection. She became the first star to wear Tiffany & Co's new Legendary diamond, over 100 carats. This diamond necklace was her statement piece of the night.
Paris Hilton
Paris Hilton walked through her first-ever Met Gala wearing a gown by Marc Jacobs. In this all-black, smokey eye and statement heal look, Hilton resembled a goth Barbie.
Anne Hathaway
We can all agree Anne Hathaway learned quite a lot in The Devil Wears Prada. Hathaway shined her way through the steps of The Met Museum wearing no other than Versace. During the red carpet, the actress mentioned the inspiration for the dress was meant to be a marriage between Versace and Chanel.
Jenna Ortega
Jenna Ortega has stayed on her Wednesday Addams days as she gave a dark preppy twist to this year's ball. Ortega wore a gown by Thom Browne. This look is a tribute to Jenna's goth preppy personality combined with the sophistication of Karl Lagerfeld.
Jennifer Lopez
Jennifer Lopez gave her version of a sensual French girl with a twist of JLo from the Bronx. This Met Gala, Lopez partnered with Ralph Lauren to create this look in honor of Lagerfeld.
Cardi B
Cardi B showed a sophisticated, elegant look while still keeping her sexy ways. Her gown was made by Chen Peng. The Top of her dress resembles the iconic suit and tie Karl Lagerfeld Look. The makeup and hair are fresh and simple, adding to the whole look of a preppy girl gone wild.
Billie Eilish
Billie Eilish looked like a vampire goddess in a dress by Simone Rocha. She is giving Mrs. Dracula with this lace see-through all-black look with platform heels and jet-black hair. This look reflects her dark, mysterious personality while staying in theme, Duh!
Rihanna
Rihanna showed up fashionably late, of course, wearing an extravagant white roses gown by Valentino. Her look is unique and screams high fashion and couture. Rihanna kept the look all white while adding a pop of color with red lipstick.
Kendall Jenner
Kendall Jenner continues her rule of not wearing pants to the Met Gala. This year she collaborated with Marc Jacobs to create this distinctive look. She is in a black sequin bodysuit, with a shimmery silver white collard, with long sleeves that turn into a cape. Jenner was one of the tallest celebs of the night with these thick, extremely high combat platform sparkly boots.
Honorable Mention Time : Jared Leto
Remember when I said Karl was always seen with a fluffy white cat? Well, Jared Leto dressed like his iconic pet named Choupette! This 6ft cat costume was made by Bill Nighy. Talk about being scandalous and unique. I mean, Jared really said MEOW!
After a night of couture and high fashion, it is time to decide which look is your favorite and which is Karl Lagerfeld-approved.
